The Venetian Carnival

The Venetian Carnival is a unique celebration that takes place every year in Annecy. We know the festivity, but most of us do not have an idea of ​​the association that prepares it. This is the ARIA composed of several active members for 20 years and who have the privilege to hide behind the famous Venetian masks.

The ARIA or Association Rencontres Italie-Annecy's mission is to preserve bonds of friendship especially through school meetings to establish a perfect twinning between the city of Annecy and that of Vicenza.

2 objectives are reviewed by the ARIA. One, undertake the development and promotion of Italian culture in all its forms. And of two, bring a little more support to the Annecy-Vincenza twinning by valuing the exchanges between the 2 cities. Being part of the association confers certain advantages. The latter often prepares conferences, banquets, Italian discussion sessions and 3 annual trips.

When the end of winter comes, an entire weekend is dedicated to the Venetian Carnival. During the festivity, a hundred people each wearing a mask stroll slowly and openly in the streets of Annecy.

The actors give all they have to bring a warm atmosphere around them while amusing the spectators: the masks pose, parade and meet at the end of the day on the podiums of the carnival. Nobody knows who is sneaking behind these disguises so unusual that extraordinary. They are so well highlighted by multicolored effects immediately catching the eye.

Several photographers are present to immortalize the highlights of Venetian Carnival in Annecy and showcase the palettes of colors that volatilize costumes. Young and old alike are amazed by the splendor of this particular festival that fuels the curiosity of many people through masks and costumes ... The Italian characters are not far!
