Annecy city centre
Annecy, the beautiful Venice of the Alps, is a holiday destination in Haute-Savoie. It is best known for the richness of its heritage and the charm of its decor. In order to better explore this wonderful "Savoyard Venice", start your visit with one of the most spectacular avenues of the city: the Notre-Dame square.
In this prosperous place stands one of the oldest gates in the city of Annecy. Also on this same square, you will find the choir of Notre-Dame which stood just before the Revolution. The building was completely rebuilt in the 19th century, except for the bell tower and a window dating from the 15th century.
Make a short detour to the Rue de la République, then continue to the left of the Quai de l'Évêché, then to the Quai de l'Isle. These were once a busy passage for the transportation of people and goods. It is especially these visitors of ancient times who evoked the nickname Annecy the "Savoyard Venice".
If you still have the strength to go on your walk, continue your way serving the island of Isle and discover the famous Palais de l'Isle and its paved courtyard. It is indeed a building that houses a museum telling the entire history of the city of Annecy.
Of course, the city is devoted to the culinary art ... Discover the inns that are in the city center and around the lake for your senses pleasure ! Whether you want to grab a quick lunch or to dine at the table of a great brand, Annecy and its large blue lagoon have many restaurants and all preferences.
When you have seated comfortably, dare to order a fish tavern, tartiflette Savoyard or a typically Annecy fondue ... A real sweetness for the taste buds!
